If you missed the stunning new 50th anniversary digital restoration of “Lawrence of Arabia” on Sunday at the New York Film Festival, it will be coming to a theater near you on Thursday. David Lean’s classic epic starring Peter O’Toole, Omar Sharif and Anthony Quinn will be playing at more than 360 theaters at 7 p.m., as well as matinees in select locations courtesy of the Fathom Events digital network. (In Manhattan, at the Empire, Kips Bay, Orpheum and Loews East Village, as well as the College Point multiplex in Queens.

In addition to the 242-minute film, the event will include newsreel footage of the New York premiere as well as footage of King Hussein visiting the film set in Aqaba where he met Lean, O’Toole and producer Sam Spiegel and Peter O’Toole. The film will be introduced by Martin Scorsese, who will discuss the overarching themes of “Lawrence of Arabia” and its influence on other iconic films.

“Lawrence of Arabia” will be released for the first time on Blu-ray by Sony on Nov. 4 in a limited edition, four disc collector’s edition.

Fathom Events are increasingly being used to promote major Blu-ray debuts. On Oct. 24, TCM will co-present a double feature of the 1931 versions of “Frankenstein” and “Dracula” as TCM host Robert Osborne interviews Bela Lugosi Jr. and Sara Karloff (the actor’s daughter) along with make-up artist Rick Baker. Both films are included in Universal’s Classic Monsters Blu-ray set street on Oct. 30.
