The Cannes Film Festival kicks off Wednesday night with the Hollywood redo of ”Robin Hood,” but the director, Ridley Scott, won’t be there. ”I recently underwent knee replacement surgery, and my recovery has been slower than I hoped,” Scott — whose resume includes “Alien” and “Blade Runner” — said in a statement. But most of the main members of the cast — Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, Oscar Issac and Max Von Sydow — are flying in for the festivities.
