As we noted last week, “Sex and the City” will debut in London (not Cannes, as previously rumored) and even one of the papers there is shocked, shocked that such a New York-centric movie — whose filming here attacted enormous interest — will bow in London on May 12, more than two weeks ahead of the May 27 New York premiere. “London? Not exactly the sexiest city in the world,” L.A. Times fashion blogger Elizabeth Snead, who blames the weak U.S. dollar and economy for the London bow, tells London’s Telegraph. But Tracy Lorie, vice-president for international communications for New Line says money had nothing to do with it. “It’s nonsense …do you have any idea how expensive London is? We have day and date releases internationally so we simply cannot do all the premieres the same time…London is just the first premiere, but not a world premiere.” Huh? “New York is the big one,” Lorie adds.
