Sad news for fans of Asian movies. After 18 years, Asian Cult Cinema magazine is shutting down, but not for economic reasons. In an e-mail to subscribers, the Florida-based quarterly’s editor and founder, Thomas Weisser, writes: “Personal family obligations force me and my wife, Yuko, to retire from this business and — at least temporarily — to relocate to Japan. This may be a brief venture. Or Yuko and I could be gone for a much longer period of time.” I’ll miss ACC, and not because I occasionally have written for it. It had excellent coverage of  fringe movies, and lots of dandy photos of Asian stars.
