A searing, penetrating look inside schizophrenia is exactly what “Enter the Dangerous Mind” isn’t.

Jake Hoffman plays Jim, a nebbishy EDM artist who’s being egged on by an aggressive alter ego (Thomas Dekker), Tyler Durden-style, to go on a date with a pretty girl (Nikki Reed). But Jim’s a nutter, and the girl catches on.

What promises at first to be a psychological thriller gradually turns into a derivative, predictable killer-maniac story that delivers a banal explanation for Jim’s anguish. Rather than investigating violence, the movie is simply a mindless celebration of it.
