Scorsese taking 3-D plunge
Martin Scorsese is going to shoot his next movie — the kidflick “The Invention of Hugo Cabaret” — in 3-D for Sony, Variety reports. Scorsese thus becomes arguably the most prominent director since Alfred Hitchcock to shoot a movie stereoscopically (James Cameron won his Best Director Oscar years before Marty). Hitchcock shot “Dial M For Murder” (1954) in 3-D, but it was released as a “flattie” almost everywhere because the 3-D fad had pretty much run its course by the time it got into theaters. Will history repeat itself?
