There is exactly one interesting paragraph in today’s New York Times puff piece on Jerry Seinfeld, who is out flogging his animated “Bee Movie.” I quote: “But Mr. [Chris] Rock, who plays a mosquito named Mooseblood in ‘Bee Movie,’ argued that the film should not be judged against Mr. Seinfeld’s larger body of work. ‘If he was doing a movie that wasn’t animated, where he was dating Scarlett Johansson, his version of ‘Manhattan,’ then maybe yes,’ he said. ‘But this is a movie about cartoon bees.’ ” Well, now that you provocatively suggest such a movie Chris, I would actually pay to see Jerry’s fictionalized version of his fabled romance with the much-younger Shoshannah Lonstein (pictured here together back in the day), which some wags suggested was inspired by the Woody Allen classic. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
