“Sharknado” has hit the Big Apple.

“Sharknado 2: The Second One,” the aptly titled sequel to last year’s B-movie mini-phenomenon, began filming in New York on Wednesday afternoon.

The first shots from the set show Ian Ziering, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Dante Palminteri and Mark McGrath hamming it while shooting what will surely be one of the movie’s many outrageous action scenes.

In the original movie, Los Angeles is hit by a freak hurricane, flooding its streets with tornadic man-eating shark-infested water. Never bothering to hide its trashiness, the movie was a hit with fans of light-hearted exploitation flicks.

The sequel, which reunites Ziering with original co-star Tara Reid, is set to air on Syfy in July.
