Steven Spielberg has decided to remake “Harvey” for his next project, Variety is reporting. Universal filmed Mary Chase’s play about a tippler with an imaginary six-foot friend in 1950, starring James Stewart and directed by Henry Levin. No casting was announced for this DreamWorks-Fox coproduction, but the role of Elwood P. Dowd would seem to be a natural for Spielberg’s frequent collaborator Tom Hanks.
