At a time when newspapers all over the U.S. are laying off critics, I’m extremely proud that The Post is apparently the only major paper in the U.S. to actually hire a reviewer in the past year or so. My colleague Michael Riedelbreaks the news (at the bottom of his column) that we are bringing in Elisabeth Vincentelli, arts editor of Time Out New York, to succeed the late great Clive Barnes as our chief drama critic. I don’t know Elisabeth, but we appear to have somewhat similar tastes; we both recently raved in print about Criterion’s release of both versions of “Magnificent Obssession.” She starts with The Post in a few weeks, but if you want a taste of her writing, her eclectic blog is The Determined Dilletante.
