It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s the “Superman” trailer.

The trailer for James Gunn’s first film in the new DC Universe came out Thursday, with an epic glimpse at David Corenswet taking on the iconic superhero role.

Corenswet’s Superman crashes in a snowy location and is bleeding from the mouth at the start of the trailer.

The footage then shows Clark Kent and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane at the Daily Planet.

Cutting back to Superman bleeding in the snow, he’s approached by Krypto, his superpowered dog from the comics.

“Take me home,” Superman tells Krypto.

There’s also glimpses of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

Clark and Lois even share a steamy kiss during the trailer.

The Warner Bros. film had previously been titled “Superman: Legacy,” but Gunn, 58, said in February that he had chopped off the second half of the name. 

“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy,’ ” he wrote. “By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was ‘Superman.’ ”

“Superman” is the first film in Gunn’s revamp of the DC Universe. It’s part of an initial grouping of movies dubbed Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Gunn teased how his film will portray the romance between Corenswet’s Clark Kent/Superman and Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.

“It’s just something that’s completely us,” Gunn explained. “The relationship between David and Rachel’s [characters] onscreen is something I don’t think we’ve seen in – I hate to say stuff like this – but I don’t think it’s something we’ve ever seen any superhero movie ever.”

“It’s a complicated relationship and we really get into it and there’s long scenes that are about their relationship and the way they relate and what it would be like for a person who’s this incredibly intelligent, strong-headed, stubborn, skeptical journalist, to have a relationship with someone who can lift a skyscraper,” he added.

Corenswet, 31, takes over the role of Superman from Henry Cavill who played the hero in six films, beginning with 2013’s “Man of Steel” and ending with an uncredited cameo in last year’s “The Flash.”

Superman is by far the biggest role to date for Corenswet, who has appeared in two Ryan Murphy Netflix series, “The Politician” and “Hollywood.”

“Superman” will hit theaters July 11, 2025.
