A dopey psychological thriller that combines elements of “The Sixth Sense” with an overbearing sentimentality, “The 9th Life of Louis Drax” flat-lines from beginning to end.

The title boy (Aiden Longworth) is one of those annoying/adorable widdle movie brats who never loses his gumption despite a long series of life-threatening accidents, culminating with a plunge off a cliff during a picnic with his mom (Sarah Gadon) and dad (Aaron Paul).

As a rule-breaking neurologist (Jamie Dornan) tries to coax clues out of the comatose boy’s mind and the latter’s dad becomes a suspect, the movie alternates between cloying magical realism and nutty pseudoscientific rubbish. It all builds up to a late revelation that is more likely to make you groan than gasp.
