I was as impressed as Lou was with Pixar’s latest classic, “Up.” For older filmgoers, I think the movie plays a couple of little inside jokes. One character is a ringer for Kirk Douglas.

But wait! There is more. As for the lead character, Carl, he isn’t as obvious but 2/3 of the way through the movie I thought: “Judgment at Nuremberg”-era Spencer Tracy! Once I had Tracy in my mind I couldn’t help thinking the character even sounded like Spence, though he is voiced by Ed Asner.
