The name of the eighth movie of the “Star Wars” franchise has been unveiled — and it’s “The Last Jedi.”

The movie, written and directed by Rian Johnson, will be out in theaters Dec. 15.

Star Wars’ official Twitter account announced the hotly anticipated news Monday morning.

“It’s official. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is the next chapter of the Skywalker saga. This December. #TheLastJedi,” the tweet said.

Episode VIII follows last year’s “The Force Awakens,” which ends with main character Rey finding long-lost Jedi Luke Skywalker.
