Check out the trailer for “Day Watch,” the Russian sci-fi thriller which will be released here June 1. It’s the sequel to 2004’s “Night Watch,” and has broken the record for top-grossing film in its native country. (Its predecessor, also a record-breaker, attempted the impressive if headache-inducing stunt of condensing its entire two hours into a trailer.)

On a geekier note, according to imdb (so trust this info at your own risk), the film apparently contains the latest usage of the Wilhelm scream — a vaguely ridiculous sound effect that’s been inserted into an unbelievable number of movies over the years. Someone with a lot of time on their hands has assembled an excellent Wilhelm compilation, beginning with the 1953 film “The Charge at Feather River,” and concluding with 1999’s “The Phantom Menace.”
