“Motherhood,” starring Uma Thurman as a self-absorbed Greenwich Village mommy blogger, was one of 2009’s biggest flops in North America, selling just $93,000 worth of tickets on a reported investment of $10 million. It’s fared much worse in the UK, where it’s reported to have racked up the second-worst opening weekend ever — $113 at a single screen in London, where the word of mouth was so lethal that a single ticket was sold on its third and last day. “Motherhood” certainly wasn’t helped by reviews like this one by The Times of London’s Wendy Ide: “The whiny drivel makes me ashamed to be a woman.”
