Two-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams takes a relatively lighthearted role in “Take This Waltz,” a romantic dramedy directed by Canadian actress Sarah Polley (“Away From Her”).

Williams plays an aspiring writer who’s celebrating the fifth anniversary of her marriage to a good-natured cookbook author (Seth Rogen, cast wildly against type).

On a trip by herself to Nova Scotia, she meets a flirty young man (Aaron Abrams) who turns out to be their neighbor in Toronto. An artist who supports himself by hauling a rickshaw, he continues purusing Williams even afer meeting her adoring if emotionally neglectful husband.

This is a well-acted but langorously paced movie. Williams’ character dawdles so long trying to decide wheter to cheat on her hubby with Abrams that a sizeable portion of the audience at a press screening had already moved on.

Sarah Silverman has a relatively straight role as a neighbor with a drinking problem.
