Maybe the surest bet of the Tribeca Film Festival, which starts tomorrow with the gala premiere of “Shrek Forever After,” is that “Get Low” will be a big success with audiences. Having conquered both Toronto and Sundance, the film will finally roll out for New Yorkers in several Tribeca screenings. (Get tickets here.) The movie features a crafty screenplay and memorable, Oscar-worthy performances by Robert Duvall, as an ornery backwoods cuss, and Bill Murray as the funeral director he hires to organize a living memorial service, just so he can see who turns up and what they have to say. An elegantly unfurled backstory tells us more about who this rascal is and why he got so mean-spirited. Sony Pictures Classics is well aware of the Oscar buzz and will be carefully nurturing the film’s release in the summer — but why wait to see this delightful, colorful dramedy?
