“Pollywood” a Barry Levinson doc about “the collision and collusion between politics and Hollywood,” will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival as a special event, reports Peter Knegt at Indiewire. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with (friend-of-Bob DeNiro) Levinson, Josh Lucas, Rachael Leigh Cook, Tim Daly, Lynn Whitfield, Tony Goldwyn, Robert Davi and Matthew Modine, moderated by NBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell.. Also added is Spike Lee’s “Passing Strange,” a recording of the Broadway musical that premiered at Sundance. It will also include a discussion with Lee and the show’s creator, Stew and co-lyricist Heidi Rodewald. Previously announced titles receiving this treatment include Steven Soderberg‘s “The Girlfriend Experience” with the filmmaker and adult film star Sasha Gray (but not, alas film critic Glenn Kenny, who has a breakout role as the new Victor Buono) and Kirby Dick’s “Outrage,” a doc about closeted conservative politicians.
