The for-profit Tribeca Film Festival, founded in 2002 to help Downtown Manhattan recover from 9/11, has signed a deal to license their name to a film festival that wlll run Nov. 10-14 in Doha, Qatar. “We hope that film will … play a role in bridging cultures closer together. By learning each other’s stories, we can see how much we share in common as well as explore and better understand our differences,” said DeNiro, who was on hand for the announcement in Doha with Shieka Mayassa (pictured with him here), along with Tribeca co-founders Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff.
