Looks like “Evan Almighty” will end up with between $31 million and $34 million over the weekend, a disappointment for a flick with a reported cost of $175 million and $200 million. Universal’s was no doubt praying it would perform in the same ballpark as its predecessor “Bruce Almighty,” which opened to a mighty $85.7 million. The horror thriller “1408” looks to break the Weinsteins’ losing streak with $20-23 million over the weekend, which is very good for the genre these days. And as expected, “A Mighty Heart” opened very soft with an expected three-day take of just $4 million.
