Universal’s woebegone streak (broken this summer by “Despicable Me” but otherwise almost uninterrupted for several years) continues next week with the utterly generic-looking dial-a-disaster movie “Skyline,” which looks roughly like a remake of “Independence Day.” The movie is itself a disaster, apparently: Universal isn’t screening this thing for critics. Generally, only low-budget horror movies and dim comedies take this unusual hide-and-seek step; “GI Joe” was previously the biggest-budget movie ever to be released without screening for critics. The trailer for “Skyline,” if you care, is here.
