Warner Bros., which was reported last week trying to work out details of a merger of Warner Independent and Picturehouse, has decided to shut down both of them, Variety reports.
No immediate word on what will happen to the flicks the two specialty arms were scheduled to release, including Picturehouse’s “Kitt Kittridge” and “The Women” and Warner Indie’s “Towelhead.” Picturehouse will still release “Mongol,” “Kitt Kittredge” and “The Women” as scheduled between now and Sept. 12, but there was no immediate word on the fate of “Towelhead,” an acquisition that WIP planned to release Aug. 8.
