You might get the mistaken impression from yesterday’s NY Times article about theaters adding 6 a.m. showings of “The Dark Knight” on opening day that most of the midnight shows on opening day are sold out. Not true, at least in Manhattan. A check of online ticketing services this morning shows tickets available for two of the three 12:01 a.m. Thursday night/Friday morning shows at the Lincoln Square (not counting the IMAX) and that tickets can be bought on all four screens for Empire screenings starting between 12:01 and 1 a.m. There are also tickets available on at least one screen at the Chelsea, the Kips Bay, the Union Square, the Orpheum, the Harlem USA and the Battery Park City. Fandango couldn’t process a request for Loews 34th Street, which has 12:01 showings on two screens, because of an “internal error,” but I’d venture a guess that “The Dark Knight” is available there, too.
