Will the J. Edgar Hoover biopic that Clint Eastwood is said to be contemplating (as director) address the persistent rumors that the longtime FBI director was a secret cross-dresser who was more than friends with his close associate Clyde Tolson? After all, the script is by Dustin Lance Black, who won an Oscar for the out-and-proud bio-pic “Milk.” The flick was developed by Imagine Entertainment at its home studio Universal, which took a pass after a series of under-performing period pics, including “Public Enemies” (in which Billy Crudup had a supporting role as Hoover) and Eastwood’s only 1920’s-set “Changeling.” Variety reports that if Eastwood, who turns 80 in May, commits then the Brian Grazer-produced flick would be made for Clint’s home studio, Warner Bros., for whom he just wrapped “Afterlife.”
