Wonder Woman is saving mankind — and slaying box office sales.
The comic book adaptation, starring Israeli bombshell Gal Gadot, raked in $38 million from 4,165 theaters Friday during its domestic debut.
The hugely anticipated flick is now on track to break $100 million in ticket sales by Monday — which would make it the third movie this year to do so during an opening weekend, along with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
If projections are correct, “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins would nab the record for the top domestic debut weekend for a female-directed film. The record is currently held by Sam Taylor-Johnson, whose “Fifty Shades of Grey” grossed $85 million its opening weekend in Feb. 2015.
