Woody Allen and Scarlett Johansson are going steady. The filmmaker has just picked the blond actress to appear in the as-yet-unnamed film he’ll be shooting in Spain come summer, Variety reports today.

It will be the third starring role for Johansson (after ”Match Point” and “Scoop”) in Allen’s last four films. She thus becomes the actress most frequently used by the director since his early flings with Mia Farrow and Diane Keaton.

The difference is, Allen was romantically involved with Farrow and Keaton when they appeared in his movies. As far as we know, the Scarlett-Woody relationship is strictly business.

Johansson is keeping busy. As Michael Riedel reports in today’s Post, she’s in the running to to play Nellie Forbush in a 2008 revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” at Lincoln Center.

The cast of the Spanish flick also includes Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
