What’s up with misleading movie trailers? Screen Rant is on top of the trend, first reporting on the doctored trailer for “The Road” that promises an explosive post-apocalyptic action thriller instead of the largely quiet, contemplative story of a father and son that it is (at least, if it’s true to the novel).

Now, the trailer for “Up” irons out all the film’s melancholy sweetness in place of promising big laughs for the kids. I’ve been noticing that the TV spots for “The Taking of Pelham 123” include an awful lot of cutaways to street shots of Denzel Washington running and cars flipping over, which is a bit disingenuous for a film in which the majority of the action happens in a subway car and a control room.

Sort of surprised the trailer for “Moon” is still intact. See, it IS possible to market a space movie without making it look like the latest installment of “Aliens” (it’s closer in spirit to the slower-paced, chilling original.)
