UNIONDALE, N.Y. — The Piano Man is closing down another New York sports venue.

Billy Joel, who played the last concerts at Shea Stadium in 2008, has been tapped to be final act at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Newsday reports the Long Island native will make his 32nd appearance at the hockey arena before it closes for a major renovation. A smaller capacity arena is set to reopen at the Uniondale site in 2016.

Joel, who grew up in nearby Hicksville and remains a Long Island resident, will play a show Aug. 4.

The New York Islanders hockey team, which played at the coliseum since 1972, is moving to Brooklyn next year.

The new arena will not have a major league sports franchise, but will stage family entertainment shows.
