Despite Donald Glover’s Grammy success with his album “Redbone,” which won Best Traditional R&B Performance Sunday night, he’s still planning on retiring his Childish Gambino stage name.

“I stand by that,” Glover, 34, said backstage. “I’m making another project right now. I like endings. I think they are important to progress.”

Glover’s soulful performance of “Terrified” wowed the awards show audience, and he heaped praise on JD McCrary, the 10-year-old rising star who joined him on stage.

“He’s just really talented,” Glover said. “It was really nice to be able to share that with him and inspiring.”

Glover added that he’s pleased by the critical acclaim his album has received.  “We made something that felt good,” he said. “It’s nice just to be part of a moment culturally.”
