I was at the 2010 Children’s Choice Book Awards last night and they played this video for everyone in attendance. I got such a kick out of it that I feel compelled to share the joy with you, gentle readers.

It’s Ocoee Middle School spreading the word – through song and dance, naturally – about the joys of reading.

In case you’re wondering what lovely song they’re singing…it’s their own version of the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling.” Clever, really.

Apropos of nothing, here are the winners from the CBC Awards (as selected by voting kids):

Kindergarten to Second Grade Book of the Year: “Lulu the Big Little Chick” by Paulette Bogan

Third Grade to Fourth Grade Book of the Year: “Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute” by Jarrett J. Krosoczka

Fifth Grade to Sixth Grade Book of the Year: “Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life” by Rachel Renee Russell

Teen Choice Book of the Year: “Catching Fire” by Suzanne Collins

Author of the Year: James Patterson for “Max”

Illustrator of the Year: Peter Brown for “The Curious Garden”
