Want to know how you can tell that bands don’t really care whether or not their music videos get played on TV anymore? Check out HIM’s new video for “Heartkiller,” the first single off their upcoming disc, “Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice” (due next month).
Basically a study in black, red and blue, the video juxtaposes rotating images of the band over images of taxidermy animals. That’s it. Three minutes of that on your TV and you’re liable to think that you’re on a bad trip, man.
Which isn’t to say that that is a bad thing and I don’t like it. In fact, I love the video. It’s simple, starkly elegant and vaguely gothic and that’s exactly what I expect from the Finnish “love metal” band.
