The 2020 Grammy Awards will pay tribute to Kobe Bryant at the awards ceremony Sunday night.
Producers are “working quickly” to come up with a way to honor the basketball superstar, who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday at the age of 41, Billboard reports.
A Recording Academy representative confirmed the tribute to the outlet.
A moment of silence for Bryant was held during the premiere ceremony that preceded the broadcast.
Bryant’s death — and that of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna — set the tone for the red carpet Sunday night, with TV hosts such as Ryan Seacrest awkwardly switching between fashion probing and somber questions about Bryant’s death.
Organizers felt this was the right thing to do on “music’s biggest night,” especially since Bryant was beloved in Los Angeles, and played for years with the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center, where Grammys 2020 is being held, Deadline reports.
