Lea Michele, she of “Glee” fame, dropped her first pop single Tuesday morning, entitled “Cannonball.” Penned by hit maker Sia, the song focuses on the central metaphor of breaking free and flying “like a cannonball.” Guess no one informed the former Broadway star that once a cannonball is fired, it falls back to Earth and explodes.

The song has a definite Celine Dion quality to it, but it will be interesting to see whether Michele will be able to really break into radio. She’ll perform the track on “Ellen” this Thursday, and her debut solo album, “Louder” will hit shelves March 4.
