The 2020 Grammy Awards honchos teased a big surprise for Lil Nas X’s performance at the awards ceremony Sunday night, and boy, did they deliver.

The rising star performed his number one cult hit “Old Town Road” as a celebration of all the song’s remixes, bringing out K-pop group BTS, yodeler Mason Ramsey, master producer Diplo and, of course, country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus.

Those special guests were to be expected, but the jaw-dropper came thereafter.

Lil Nas X transitioned into a rendition of his song “Rodeo” from his EP “7.” But when it came time for the rap feature, he was joined not by Cardi B (who is on the recorded track) — but by his namesake, rap icon Nas.

The Grammys — held on Jan. 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and hosted by Alicia Keys — were already a big night for Lil Nas X. Prior to his performance with hip-hop legend Nas, he took home wins in the categories of Best Music Video and Best Pop Duo Group/Performance, both for “Old Town Road (Remix)”.
