Selena is a punk rocker!

The pop starlet released her latest single early on Thursday morning, and for former denizens of CBGB, it might sound familiar.

“Bad Liar” is a slinky, minimal R&B track built around the bass riff that opens Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer.” It was the anchor of the 1977 classic. Forty years later, it hasn’t lost any of its hypnotic magic.

Gomez is in fine form herself, channeling a sultry, sexual anguish through her vocals. She even drops a lyrical reference to the Trojan War. That unlikely combination of Greek mythology and the famous notes played by Talking Heads’ bassist Tina Weymouth provides the basis of Gomez’s best song since 2013’s “Come and Get It.”

It’s no wonder that David Byrne has offered his approval. Gomez’s label, Interscope, played the track for the Talking Heads’ singer, and the 65-year-old gave it an enthusiastic thumbs-up, Billboard reports.

What could be next for Gomez? A sample of Dee Dee Ramone shouting “one, two, three, four?” A song featuring a guest spot from Television’s Tom Verlaine? Or maybe a track-by-track cover of the Dead Boys’ seminal 1977 debut album “Young Loud and Snotty?”

Bring, it Selena — we’re ready!
