LIKE Le Cirque, another ornate Adam Tihany-designed hotel eatery will be closing Jan. 1.

The Plaza Hotel’s One c.p.s., which has been managed by the Smith & Wollensky Group since it opened in 2000, will not have its contract renewed by the hotel’s new owners, the company recently said.

There are no immediate plans to replace One c.p.s. with another restaurant.

“They may put in a spa or a banquet facility,” said one Smith & Wollensky executive.

The eatery opened with much promise in the formerly dreary Edwardian Room, with talented chef David Burke helming the kitchen.

Tihany brightened up the cavernous landmarked space by removing the heavy draperies from the floor-to-ceiling windows and adding colorful, oversized red lampshades to the 8-foot iron chandeliers.

* Restaurateur Buzzy O’Keeffe almost lost one of his prized restaurants to a fire this week.

Last Tuesday afternoon, firefighters were called to the Water Club after flames erupted in a storage area above a prep kitchen.

But thanks to the quick work of the FDNY, the fire didn’t spread.

There was “lots of smoke and some water damage,” O’Keeffe said. “Thank God nobody was hurt.”

The restaurant, located on a floating barge fronting the East River, opened for dinner later that day.

* If you’re looking to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a big-budget dinner, reservations for a fancy meal at Alain Ducasse will be accepted starting today.

The main seating, which starts at 8:30 p.m., includes a seven-course dinner, minus liquor (a glass of champagne will be served at midnight to toast the New Year), tax and tip for $420 per person.

Early birds – or those on a bit of a budget – can be seated until 6 p.m. with a five-course menu for $200.

* Renaud LeRasle, who was executive chef at the Russian Tea Room, and later P. Diddy’s personal chef, has left Reve on the Upper East Side.

Now manning the stoves is Christina Kelly, formerly of Avenue and 520, who specializes in French-Asian cuisine.
