REEL GOOD
MONSTERS, INC. (2001)
Sunday, 9 p.m., Disney
Sully and Mike (John Goodman and Billy Crystal) are a couple of working monster-stiffs at the scare factory in Monstropolis, a city powered by the screams of little kids. That all changes when a little girl enters the land of the soft-hearted big lugs. They all become pals. Steve Buscemi, James Coburn and Jennifer Tilly also lend their voices to this terrific Pixar flick.
PATTON (1970)
Wednesday, 11:30 a.m., AMC
The best performance of George C. Scott’s brilliant career is the focal point of this Oscar-winning film about the all too human WWII general. Karl Malden co-stars as General Omar Bradley. A literate, honest and brilliant war drama.
BOYS DON’T CRY (1999)
Thursday, 9 p.m., Lifetime
Hilary Swank’s first Oscar-winning performance is haunting in this true story of Brandon Teena, a popular new guy in town who hangs with the guys, chases the girls, and curses up a storm. He even dates cutie Chloe Sevigny – until it’s discovered that Brandon was born a girl which leads to his sadistic rape and murder. You’ll never forget this film.
MIAMI VICE (2006)
Saturday, 10 p.m., MAX
It’s a stylin’, cartoon version of the stylin’ cartoon-y 1980’s TV show about drug runners and the cops who nail them. Here Crockett and Tubbs (Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx) go undercover (and under the covers) to break up a Colombian drug cartel forcing Crockett to get sexually obsessed with the gorgeous Chinese-Cuban drug kingpin’s wife. Lotsa fun.
