Problems arise when the guy’s freewheeling family gives her a hostile reception, which throws everything into chaos. This terrific movie stars Claire Danes, Diane Keaton and Craig T. Nelson.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL (2003)

Sure, it seemed like a dopey idea to make a movie out of a Disney ride, but Johnny Depp pulled this one out. He’s dashing buccaneer Jack Sparrow, who has to save the girl and retrieve the haunted ship from the creepy Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush).

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (2004)

Wednesday, 10 p.m., Showtime

Mel Gibson’s amazing recreation Christ’s final hours of the life on earth – all done in Hebrew, Latin and, yes, Aramaic. You don’t need to speak the language to get the message, which is brutal. The screenplay is adapted from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. James Caviezel is a very convincing Jesus.
