BENJAMIN McKenzie, the brooding young star of “The O.C.,” is in serious talks to do a new series, “LAPD,” from the creator of “ER,” John Wells, according to reports.

The cop series for NBC would be McKenzie’s first TV role since the teen soap went off the air two years ago.
