Yada, yada residency!
Jerry Seinfeld will do a monthly stand-up gig at the Beacon Theatre in 2016, starting with a show on Jan. 7, owners of the venerable Upper West Side venue announced Tuesday.
The comic said he was inspired to pursue a residency deal after watching Billy Joel perform regularly at Madison Square Garden.
“I thought this is a really unique moment to see a guy [Joel] who comes from this area and builds his career — a career kind of comes from the culture that you grew up in,” Seinfeld said Tuesday onstage at the 2,800-seat Beacon Theatre.
“I feel like New York and Long Island is kind of what gave me the perspective to do what I do,” he added.
More than a decade ago, Seinfeld purchased Joel’s 11-acre spread in Amagansett, LI, for $32 million — his first step following in The Piano Man’s footsteps.
“I thought, ‘As long as I have his house, why don’t I steal his whole career?’ ” Seinfeld yucked.
“Jerry Seinfeld: The Homestand” has dates lined up for Jan. 7, Feb. 18, March 2, April 14, May 5 and June 8.
Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster on Monday.
Seinfeld is best known for the long-running NBC sitcom that he produced with Larry David from 1989 to 1998.
