Audrey Geisel was married to Dr. Seuss for 23 years. Here’s what she told The Post in a rare interview from her San Diego home:

Q: What would Dr. Seuss think of all the hoopla over his 100th birthday?

A: He’d be so very glad he was dead. . . . He was a very private, quiet man.

Q: Was he as zany as the world he created in his books.

A: Yes. When he attempted the first time, to give up cigarettes he began growing parsley in a pipe and holding that up to his mouth and walking around with it. His whimsy was quite whimsical.

Q: If he were still around, what would a good birthday present be?

A: He was not much into presents, hence the Grinch came out of that.

Q: Did he test out his stories on children?

A: Not ever.

Q: Did Dr. Seuss have a favorite book?

A: He loved them all. But if I had to come up with one, it would be “Oh the Places You’ll Go.”
