KEVIN Covais – the pride of Levittown, L.I. – was booted off “American Idol” in last night’s live elimination show.

The bespectacled Covais, who at age 16 is tied for the youngest “Idol” contestant ever, reacted gracefully after hearing the news.

“America, I love you. Thank you for everything. You guys are amazing,” he said.

“America, be smart – pick one of these amazing people,” he added, gesturing to the remaining “Idol” contestants.

” ‘Chicken Little’ leaves us! What are we gonna do without you?” show host Ryan Seacrest said to Covais, who earned the affectionate nickname because of his resemblance to the animated character in the recent Disney movie.

Also up for elimination last night were Lisa Tucker, 16, and Bucky Covington, 28, both of whom survived the cut, at least for another week.

Covais’ elimination leaves 10 remaining contestants vying for the “Idol” crown.

Last night’s show featured a live performance from Barry Manilow, who’d worked with the remaining “Idol” contestants in Las Vegas helping them prepare for Tuesday’s singoff show.

Manilow, who crooned “Love is a Many Splendored Thing,” is back atop the charts with his new CD of ’50s pop classics.

“Idol” remains TV’s top-rated show, pulling in more than 30 million viewers each week.
