NBC-owned Spanish-lan guage network Tele mundo will provide English subtitles for prime-time programs this fall.
It’s a first for Telemundo (Ch. 47), which will kick off the new service Sept. 8, according to a report in Mediaweek.
Viewers who want to see the subtitles can use the closed-captioning feature on their televisions.
“We expect these shows are going to appeal to all U.S. Hispanics, including those who are primarily English dominant,” Telemundo president/CEO Jim McNamara said.
Two of the first shows to use the subtitles will be “La Cenicienta,” a reality show, and “Amor Descardo,” a telenovela.
