The Stanley Cup Finals weren’t only a huge relief to long-suffering Chicago Blackhawks fans, but a ratings boon for broadcaster NBC.

The Wednesday night showdown between the Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers—two of the six most populous cities in the U.S—reaped a 5.8 overnight rating, the highest rating of any Stanley Cup Finals game in 36 years, NBC boasted in a release Thursday.

Rising star Patrick Kane scored the winning goal 4 minutes and 10 seconds into overtime Wednesday, giving the Blackhawks their first Stanley Cup since 1961 and fourth in franchise history.

Ratings were up 41 percent from last year’s Stanley Cup Finals Game Six between the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins won the series in seven games.
