FORMER NBA star Rick Fox has snared a recurring role on FX’s “Dirt,” set to premiere next year with former “Friends” star Courteney Cox.

Fox, who’s also the ex-husband of Vanessa Williams, will play a basketball star with marital problems – two things with which he’s familiar.

Fox played for the Boston Celtics and L.A. Lakers in his 13-season NBA career, and was instrumental in helping the Lakers win three straight championships (2000-02).

He’s made no secret of his desire for a Hollywood career, and had a small role on HBO’s “Oz.” He also guest-starred last season on UPN’s “Love, Inc” and has had small roles in the movies “He Got Game” and “Blue Chips.”

Fox filed for divorce from Williams two years ago, when The National Enquirer ran photos of him with another woman.

Cox will star in “Dirt” as the editor of a gossip magazine. She’s also executive-producing the show with her husband, David Arquette, and Matthew Carnahan.
