Pete best on ABC ABC’s Peter Jennings proved last week in Iraq that access equals ratings. Jen nings was the only network anchor to witness, first-hand, both the transfer of power in Iraq and the arraignment of Saddam Hussein, and those “gets” led ABC’s “World News Tonight” to a weekly evening-news ratings win (8.6 million viewers). “WNT,” in fact, registered its largest margin of victory over the “NBC Nightly News” since November 2001.

Marie Osmond tells “ET” that she sports tattoos – but it’s not what you think. “I just did the most brilliant thing,” she tells Jann Carl. “My daughter tells me, ‘OK, mother, we’re going camping for a month. No make-up, nothing.’ I went, ‘Oh, man, this just stinks. How’ that gonna happen without my eyeliner?’ So, I just had my eyeliner tattooed on!”

Legendary songwriter Neil Se daka, who guest- judged this past season on “Ameri can Idol,” has kept his promise to make “AI” contestant Kimberley Locke his open ing act at Westbury Music Fair (Aug. 13). Neil also re ceived the Songwriters Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award last month, and that ceremony airs Sunday, July 18 (9 p.m.) on Bravo. Regis Philbin presented Neil with the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award.

Speaking of Philbin, he and wife Joy Philbin spent yes terday on the set of “Live with Regis & Kelly” filming a cameo for the upcoming “Miss Congeniality 2,” star ring Sandra Bullock. Last, but not least: On Saturday: Denise Rich has snared Star Jones, Kwame Jackson, Lorraine Bracco, Ashanti and Mi chael Bolton for a Hamptons shindig benefitting Rich’s G&P (cancer) Foundation at her estate in Southampton. It’s co-sponsored by the Robb Report, Roll-Royce Motor Cars, London Jewelers and Netjets & Marquis Jet Part ners (Bolton will perform).

NBC has ordered 24 mil lion of those familiar Greek “Anthora” coffee cups and will distribute them to major cities to hype the Summer Olympics. The cups read “Athens 2004: 24 Hours a Day, Aug. 13-29, On the Net works of NBC.”
