A TEENAGE savant is the lead character in the unusual new series “Kyle XY.” Kyle (Matt Dallas) makes quite the entrance. He’s found wandering in traffic and is subsequently put in an institution, where he meets Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre), a psychologist who brings him home. Kyle is a handful, to say the least. He doesn’t sleep. The family tries everything – hot tea, sleeping pills – but nothing seems to work. The Tragers face the possibility that they may be unable to help Kyle.

DOCUMENTARY
Maverick moviemakers
ORSON WELLES, Sam Peckinpah and John Cassavetes – these are only three of the top-flight directors profiled in “Edge of Outside.” The original documentary pays tribute to these mavericks and others like them who rebelled against the studio system and its stupid, formulaic movies. Some of the folks who appear in the documentary to talk
about these pioneers are Ed Burns, Peter Falk, Henry Jaglom, Spike Lee, Arthur Penn and the great Gena Rowlands, Cassavetes’ widow who was nominated for Oscars for her work in two of his films of the 1970s – “A Woman Under the Influence” and “Gloria.”
