THE day after an angry political showdown with her “View” co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck announced she will campaign for Gov. Sarah Palin.

She’ll start stumping for the GOP vice presidential candidate starting this weekend in Florida.

“I am more than honored to be there,” Hasselbeck said yesterday on the air. “I’m excited to do it, and I’ll have some stories, I’m sure, on Monday.”

Hasselbeck said that the McCain campaign contacted her Wednesday – the same day she had a screen-rattling showdown with co-host Joy Behar over the contentious presidential campaign.

She’s been asked to introduce Palin at several rallies in Florida, a key swing state.

Except for Barbara Walters, the co-hosts on “The View” have made no secret of who they each like in the upcoming election. But this is the first time any of them has gone out to publicly campaign for a candidate.

In the past, Whoopi Goldberg has appeared at Democratic fundraisers, but not since she joined the show.
