Today’s announcement that Stockard Channing and Elizabeth Marvel are going to co-star — as mother and daughter! — in Jon Robin Baitz’s new “Other Desert Cities” is serendipitous: Marvel is playing Regina Giddens in “The Little Foxes” right now, and Channing played her in 1997. I blogged about the new production yesterday, mentioning that I actually had liked Channing’s un-showy take on the character. But never mind those coincidences — seeing these two share a stage is the kind of stuff that makes living in New York worthwhile.

As if this wasn’t enough, the ever-awesome Linda Lavin is on board as well, along with Stacy Keach. Previews start December 16 at the intimate Mitzi Gaynor, oops, Mitzi Newhouse Theater, for a January 13 opening. Color me psyched.
